in the Conference EACCO2-CU held at Sunway University, Malaysia
 

Dr. (Mrs) Malti Goel, Principal Scientist, Climate Change Research Institute and Former Adviser, Department of Science & Technology, was invited to conduct the Workshop on Carbon Capture and Utilization towards Climate Change Mitigation in the first Euro-Asia Conference on CO2 Capture and Utilization (EACCO2-CU) held in Malaysia on August 6-8, 2019. The Conference was hosted by the Sunway University, a leading University ranked among top 2% Universities in Asia.

Dr. Malti Goel delivered the plenary talk to discuss the role of carbon capture and utilization (CCU) in climate change mitigation.  Expounding on the genesis of anthropogenic climate change and peoples’ perception to CCU, the issues and challenges were highlighted. The competing roles of CCU in addressing terra ton challenge of climate change and resource management by converting CO2 into petrochemicals as value added products were described.

The EACCO2-CU conference and workshop brought together over 50 young and senior scientists with relevant research experience from eleven countries including India. Both CO2 Capture and CO2 utilization researches were presented in the plenary talks and parallel Oral Sessions. Poster presentations were also held. Key highlights of the conference were; blending of research perspectives from different parts of the world, awards given to best oral and best poster presentations, and demonstrating scientific as well as cultural perspectives from Malaysia. Certificates were awarded to all participants.
